Fairmont’s Annual Tree-Lighting Ceremony and More

The air gets a little chilly these days and even in Scottsdale, Arizona where the sun shines almost all year, you can notice the wintry weather coming into Arizona. It is on days like these that we are starting to get excited for the upcoming holiday season like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

This year, make sure to wear your coats and mittens, as the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess will once again invite the public to its annual “Christmas at the Princess” Tree Lighting ceremony on Thursday, November 21, 2013. After the opening night, guests and residents can see the enchanted music and light show every night from 6 pm to 10 pm.

The evening includes spectacular musical performances, Santa Claus and his elves, strolling carolers, complimentary sugar cookies and spiced cider and other seasonal treats will be on hand for kids of all ages.

Right after the ceremony, there will be an unveiling of the resorts newest attraction, the Snow Winter Wonderland and for the first time, the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess will have magical snowfalls at the rink and the train station, adding a new touch to this winter wonderland open to all guests and public.

Beginning November 30, every Friday and Saturday, visitors will get a chance to ride the “Princess Express” train that will take you all around the lagoon. There you will be treated with mesmerizing poinsettias, swans, lighted decorations and sparkling trees that will make you love the holiday even more.

If you think the evening is already packed with overwhelming activities, there are still more. The evening will also include the lighting of the four-story musically animated Christmas tree which will be illuminated with 65,000 LED lights that dance and twinkle along with singing of old time favorite Christmas carols.

Also, during Fridays and Saturdays, kids will have the opportunity to spend their time with Santa at his workshop in La Hacienda Plaza from 5:30 to 8:30 pm and get their picture taken.

The Scottsdale Fire Department’s staff and volunteers will be on the site to distribute fire hats to the children and accept donated toys for the Toys for Tots charity.

There is not an admission charge for Christmas at the Princess. There is a charge to skate and for the kids to make the ornaments.

Here’s the list of activities:

5:30 pm – Pre-Snow with Radio Disney and holiday festivities on The Plaza

6:45 pm – Tree lighting ceremony begins

7:15 pm – Desert Ice Skating Rink opens to public and Santa available for photos at his nearby workshop

Christmas is thought to be the most wonderful time of the year with gift giving, beautiful decorations and music, feasting on special food and spending a lot of time with our family.
